I'd like to present here our School Pen Pal Club the website of which you can find at www.tambov.fio.ru/vjpusk/vjp048/rabot/40/index.html The club promotes the tolerance idea to other cultures and nations, helps the members who are kids of 10-17 years old develop their language skills for whom English is a foreign language. The kids are naturally involved in the correspondence with about nine schools abroad, most of which are located in the USA, and the number of the schools gradually increases. It's a good means of establishing longlife friendship bonds and while writing, the kids learn their own independence, the tolerant attitude towards other nations and cultures. The club has a 10 years history, but got 'the second wind' after entering the Internet and joining the PIE project created by Ernie Read whose ideas are willingly followed in Rissia. While taking the Internet computer course in April, 2003, designed specially for school teachers in Russia, the author created the web site you can view and, if interested, join. It is the logo of the School Pen Pal Club, once mentioned by the director or PIE:'When everyone's share, all benefit.' And we truly hope it is so. |
