PROJECT IDEA EXCHANGE "PIE" MONTHLY NEWSLETTER VOLUME 3: NO. 4 February 2004 http://pie.mcvts.net PROGRAM OF THE MONTH It is my pleasure to share with all members a PIE educational visual communications program entitled "SEE OUR WORLD (S.O.W.)" Very simply stated, S.O.W. is exactly what its title implies, a photo exchange providing all participants with the opportunity to visually experience other areas of the world. The concept is very simple. There is an expression that a "picture is worth a thousand words." We will be operating under the concept that the pictures are worth more than thousands of words; they will create abundant questions whose answers with are worth hundreds of thousands of words, with each word creating that deeper understanding and appreciation of others that we each seek to establish for our students and ourselves. The implementation of S.O.W. is quite simple. First, if you are interested, please email me (erreadiii@aol.com or reade@mail.mcvts.net) to have your name included in the S.O.W. Participant List. Second, I will then share the list with those who are S.O.W. members. Third, each month we will have a topic for the photo exchange. Simply send one, but no more than five digital photos, directly to those members that joined S.O.W. Photos are not to be posted on a web site. They are only for in school instructional purposes to generate an exchange of questions and interest in learning more about others. If you do not have digital cameras, you still can join and receive photos from others. It is my mission and my sincerest hope that SEE OUR WORLD will encourage and foster additional communications and interest with its goal being to help all develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of others on a global basis. If you have any questions, comments, and suggestions, or are informing me that you wish to join S.O.W., please e-mail me (erreadiii@aol.com or reade@mail.mcvts.net) at once. MEMBER NEWS PROJECT IDEA EXCHANGE is proud to welcome the following new members to its steady growing worldwide membership. Sun Yunxia, Xingtai Vocational and Technical College English Teacher Xingtai, People's Republic of China PIE members are now found in thirty countries on six continents. There is a wealth of information that can be used as is or adjusted to meet the needs of most students. DIRECTOR'S NOTES The goal of PIE is to share ideas, concepts and techniques that improve teaching and level the understanding others on a global basis. To reflect that sense of corporation, I wanted to share this question posted on the PIE Website WEBCHAT by PIE member Sun Yunzia asking for the following assistance: "Who can offer me the brief introduction of Shakespeare's 4 famous tragedies, which I need for the students to act accordingly in order to practice their oral English?" If you can provide any assistance, please contact Sun Yunzia by email at soniasunny2003@yahoo.com.cn. Are you involved in an educational project that is successful? Do you have a website that you wish to share? Are you looking to join or create a project? If so, share your topic, idea, question or such with others by posting it on the PIE website. Also share it with me so that I can include your topic, idea, question or such in the next monthly newsletter. Looking for other schools to work with, then do the same. Do you have ideas but need some assistance; contact me (erreadiii@aol.com; reade@mail.mcvts.net). I am always available to assist you in whatever manner possible! Be Well, Happy and Safe!
